I didn't post a lot last year and looking through my lists, I have a lot of unfinished and barely started posts to work on. The seeming slowdown however, dear readers, is not completely tied to the whirlwind my life often is, because I have been working on more material for you - material which will see the light of day this year. The big project goes back even further - more than a decade really, but was kicked off in 2024 with the release from WotC of their SRD in Creative Commons.
What's this big project you ask? Its the one thing folks keep asking me about - an update and re-release of Dragons at Dawn - my Arnesonian tribute game.
I don't have any grand plans, other than to provide a voice for Arneson and the Blackmoor gang for anyone who might be interested. Once I've polished it a bit more I think I will release a no art playtest version for anyone who wants to try it out and provide feedback. Followed maybe by a kickstarter to pay for color art. The idea is a thoroughly "modern" looking book available as print on demand most likely. Per Malia's wishes, a portion of the profits, if there are any, will go to Fort Snelling - a place her father cherished.
Another thing sucking up my energy has been a wilderness guide and ruleset for Blackmoor for Griff and Chris at The Fellowship of the Thing. That's been going in fits and starts but it is moving along.
Frankly there are a good half dozen projects slowly perking away in the background, so hopefully 2026 will be a bountiful year for Blackmoor fans.
I'm also acutely aware that many, especially newer folks, are completely unaware of all the wonders we uncovered together over the years and that it is not exactly easy to try to dig through a blog, or even know you should, to find decade old posts. So I think, two things are on my to-do list this year on top of everything else. One is to compile a pdf of my blogposts, and another is to find the time to turn the best of them into individual videos to upload to Youtube for visual consumers who never read blogs. I just need to clone myself to find the time...
Happy 2026 everyone.
